Nestlé Pakistan organized a meetup of prominent bloggers and digital influencers from Lahore which was part of awareness initiative ‘Nestlé Start Healthy, Stay Healthy.
The event was organized at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore and aimed to enlighten the attendees about the significance of the #First1000Days of the life of a newborn. The event was strikingly different from other such events as the good folks from Nestle & the event management team did not make any effort to sell any product or service associated with Nestle. The entire focus of the evening were infants, their nutritional requirements and the care they need during the crucial #First1000Days of their lives. Medical Advisor at Nestle Nutrition, Dr. Huma Fahim was on hand to highlight the common causes which lead to undernourishment of children and presented data from credible sources showing how lack of education pertaining to nutrition is affecting the Pakistani children which ultimately affects society as a whole.
Dr. Huma explained why the period from conception to second year of child plays a crucial role in development of a child, his/ her brain and abilities, she pointed out the nutritional needs of the child in this period and illustrated how the nutrition plays an important role in determining the life and success of a child in the later life with the help of empirical data.
The presentation by Dr. Huma was short and crisp and was promptly followed by a question/ answer session in which the bloggers and influencers asked questions and gave feedback about the presentation and the Start Healthy, Stay Healthy initiative by Nestle. Waqar Ahmad, the Head of Corporate Affairs, said,
“Nestlé has an expertise in nutrition and believes it has a responsibility to share that expertise. We want to promote better health through good nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life. Research shows that children who don’t get proper nutrition in their early years can’t fully develop their physical and cognitive potential and are at an increased risk of poor health as adults.”
The attendees were asked to pledged that they will use their influence to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition in the #First1000Days of a child’s life and give comments about the event on a specially designed signature-wall.
The event was followed by snacks and a networking session where the nutrition experts and the audience engaged in sharing feedback about the event.
