Camtronix Pakistan, official distributors of Nikon in Pakistan organized Nikon Film & Photo festival, first of its kind in Pakistan and award ceremony was conducted on 19th August in PC, Lahore. A jam packed event where dignitaries from all walks of the trade along with aspiring photographers participated. Event was nicely organized and quite well managed except for unscheduled delays. Event was hosted by Sophiya Anjum. Shan the eminent star of Pakistani Cinema and Nikon Icon participated as chief guest.
First half of the event was dedicated for addresses of CEO, Japanese deputy chief ambassador, Nikon’s regional management and Shan Shahid. Second part included screening of participating films and photographs, announcement of winners followed by lavish dinner in Crystal hall PC.
Other dignitaries included Deputy chief from Japanese embassy, Camtronix CEO Mr. Nasir Saeed and other senior officials from Nikon middle east region. An introductory video was shown about Nikon’s journey with some interesting facts. Regional Sales Manager Middle east, in his address revealed that Nikon has sold some 95M lenses and Nasa uses Nikon camera’s on their space missions including 608 cameras permanently fixed at different angles on international space station. Nikon’s new strategy and target market was also revealed that Nikon is aiming to enter movie/film business with DSlr movie cameras and Pakistan is their second most important market, they are here to stay.
Shan, Nikon Icon, laid focus on need of introducing our youth the camera and how powerful technology tool this is. He emphasized on local political leadership to distribute Cameras instead of laptops among youth, promote film culture, provide facilities and come up with policies and strategies for that matter. He also opened his heart about Pakistani businessmen’s mind set that Nikon cameras are top of the line and expensive devices which pakistani businessmen let go off to save money, so Nikon should support iconic film fraternity in acquisition of latest and top of the line cameras. Pakistan is a very rich land when it comes to talent, Pakistanis love the Nikon brand and will continue to support in Pakistan.
After Shan’s address, behind the scenes video was payed with appreciation for the organizers of the event and how much effort everyone has put in to make this happen. Afterwards top 10 photographs and top 6 participating films were screened for the audience. It goes without saying, what an amazing work produced by local artists and students. Judges panel included Mr. Arooj Samdani, Mian M. Hannan, Jamshed Masood, Mr Shahid Zaidi and Mr. Sheikh Arshad.
Mr. Ghalib Hasnain’s picture secured 1st position and won him an award of PKR. 179,000. Mr. Ali Awais’s picture won him second prize of PKR. 55,000. Muhammad Asad secured thrid spot with PKR. 38,000. Following are top 3 pictures that won prizes,

Jackpot of PKR. 737,000 was won by Mr. Taimoor Tanveer who secured first position in film competition followed by Malik Zaheer on second position with prize money PKR. 475,000 and Mr. Hassan Alam Sethi at number 3 with prize money PKR. 190,000.
Token of thanks in form of shields were presented to all the dignitaries and judges by Nikon. Lavish dinner was followed by Award ceremony.
